2000 Château Lagrange (St. Julien)

Community Tasting Note

92 Points

Tuesday, May 11, 2010 - Still a very youthful wine, the 2000 Lagrange has lost some of that overt coffee laced oak of its youth, and now reveals more of its fruit. Time in the glass allows the aromatics to flesh out, and there's plenty of floral and dark fruit elements. Just a bit of earthiness (clean, damp earth, not funk) is emerging as well, but it's dominated by the fruit. The wine is a little hollow in the mid-palate, so I think it's still somewhat closed down. The longer the bottle was open the richer the wine was, so ether give this a couple of hours in the decanter or let it rest a few more years. There's a long way to go on this beautiful wine.
