2000 Château Lagrange (St. Julien)

Community Tasting Note

Sunday, December 19, 2010 - Opened with 2002 Insignia for beef dinner & three different wine palates, so I wanted us to taste out two opposite wines. 1 went for Insignia, 2 went for Lagrange, myself included. Beautifully balanced at this point in time with lovely integrated tannins (very fine grit) and still retaining lift and lightness on the palate. Red fruits dominate, as expected, with slight oak smoke, forest floor and rhubarb blending in. Decanted for an hour, enjoyed over two. This bottle was empty that night, there was Insignia for the next evening...
