2000 Château Lagrange (St. Julien)

Community Tasting Note

Sunday, May 6, 2012 - Aerated to decanter at 2pm, served at 7pm. My second time with this in the past 6 months, and yet another solid performance. Full ruby core, no sign of age. Youthful, with plenty of character and obvious structure but so very tasty right now. This went head-to-head with 2001 Collosorbo Riserva and where the Brunello got better every 10 minutes, this seemed to plateau. Juicy black and red berries, cigar wrapper, turned earth and potpourri. Full-bodied, lively acids, precise, elegant tannins and a medium finish. This seduces but then seems more of a tease; bottle rest should help. One bottle remaining that I'll try and open before 2015. 13,0% abv
