Very primary, the wine is already absolutely sumptuous in a satiny, rich style that cling to the imaginatioin even longer than it clings to the palate. Medium ruby with a dark core, the nose presents with aromas of black currents, creamy plum-torte (I recommend the NY times recipe), and then hints of shellac, tobacco and pepper. But however beguling the nose, this wine really soars on the palate, which is exceptionally complex for a young CDP: a richness of sweet fruit but with the acidity and soft tannins to create a remarkable balance. Best Clos des Papes I've tried at this age since I started trying them young!
