Wednesday, November 21, 2012 - Decanted 15 mins before first glass.
Clear edge in glass but not brick rather deep rich red colour.
Vegetal warm nose.
Bramble fruit with spiced cooking apple flavour and acidity - but in no way astringent. All still enclosed in gentle furry oak. Fades on palate after 30 minutes (remember 1954!!) to a pleasing delicate hedge fruit pastille aftertaste.
Evolving by the minute in the decanter/glass but fabulous for its age.
Remaining bottles reserved for my 60th in '14 - will inevitably be variable, but who cares if this bottle is par!
