Saturday, July 31, 2010 - Châteauneuf-du-Pape tasting: The nose had beautiful dark fruit aromas with notes of smoke and some brown spices. The palate had very ripe blackberry and cherry flavors with some oak notes. No brett to be found on this at all, and that was quite a surprise to me considering how much brett was on the 06 Reservees that we have tasted. This was one of my favorites of the night. I think it's the Syrah or Mourvedre component and the abscence of brett that make me enjoy a CdP. I was surprised to find out how much grenache was in this wine - I never would have guessed that it was so much.
