95 Points

Saturday, August 6, 2011 - A profound effort wich is so typically Pégaü I am amazed. I really do love this rustic, yet balanced style. The nose is full of the Pégaü classical tones of wet hay, garrigue, dried flowers, dark fruit and after a few hours of air a subtle but lovely tone of menthol (!) and morellos. The palate is balanced but still the tannins, oak, acidity and fruit components speak out loudly. I love the oak component in this wine - it is surely present but still velvety and almost silky. Tannins are present yet manageable and rather appealing. After having tried several vintages from this producer during long dinners, I think this wine will integrate a bit more, but remain expressive and provide an immense amount of pleasure.

Comparing the 07 to the 03, the 03 is more integrated, a little bit "more" of everything - although the 07 will be a great wine with some age it will not be as great as the 03. Comparing the 07 to the 05, I think the 07 drinks better right now, but that is of course just according to my palate. (score is 95-96 tonight)
