Friday, June 15, 2012 - Popped and slox-ox'd for 2 hours. Big nose showing tons of cassis and lead pencil shavings, followed by aromas of spicy black pepper, dark cherries, rich ripe blueberries, and fresh flowers. On the palate a generous amount of spicy black pepper comes to the forefront, along with more cassis and lead pencil, as well as ripe blackberries, prunes, and sweet red cherries. Plenty of smooth tannins still hanging around, complimented by a solid yet not overbearing dose of acidity. Medium length finish ending on notes of black pepper and black cherries. Medium bodied, with great balance. This is drinking very well right now as this flaunts its age with subtle secondary characteristics, yet still delivering a solid punch of fruit on the palate. Good structure, with at least a few more years of prime time drinking to go. Great QPR. Good+
