Friday, October 4, 2013 - Popped and poured; consumed over two days. The robe was a cloudy garnet...but I find that fairly normal for Musar and, for me, doesn't detract from the experience. Initially, the nose was full of olives with some of the "Musar funk" but the former dissipated precipitously, eventually evolving into a pleasant bouquet of sous bois and ripe, dark red fruit. Good acid for food. Tannins seem well integrated. Soft mouth-feel. Early on, I was picking up an interesting cocoa component in the flavor profile...somewhat reminiscent of stone-ground Mexican table chocolate (seems weird, I know...but if you've ever had it...you would likely get where I'm coming from as it's very distinctive). Eventually, this was replaced by a more classic cocoa component to accompany the brambles and earth. A thoroughly enjoyable Musar. I've got a bottle of this in the cellar that I plan to hold. While this is drinking very nicely right now (much better than the 2005 right now IMO) and well over two days, I think it's got plenty of life in it. Get it.
