2006 King Estate Pinot Noir Pfeiffer

Community Tasting Note

90 Points

Tuesday, August 30, 2011 - Vinturi'd into a decanter, and let sit for about 10 minutes...the natives were getting restless, so poured into Reidel Oregon pinot stems, and got to it. Nose of some cherry and earth...light and subdued aromas. Light bodied, w/flavors of black cherry standing out. Not what I was expecting, as '06 was a warm vintage, and the Pfeiffer vineyard is in Junction City, which typically gets warm...I was thinking more of a big pinot, richer and dense. Not the case at all, a balanced effort, that opened up after an hour or so, and was true to the varietal, totally enjoyable.
