Sunday, April 17, 2011 - My first 2007 CDP--after a serious of really disappointing lesser Rhones which had convinced my that the marketing hype was just that. This was very enjoyable though not profound . Clearly not yet developed in its complexity. But the overripe fruit was handled very nicely-- not the typical briary hunter's nose of CDP but rather a smoother nose of blended dark red fruit and blackberries. The palate was lush, not overripe, with a plum center and a modern blend of stewed red fruit, smoke, and some hint of the woods. Good finish. I hope that it does develop more complexity.
