92 Points

Saturday, April 4, 2015 - Popped and poured, then followed for several hours. Medium ruby color. Dense nose of anise, pine forest, holly berry, violets, stone. Primary pulpy red raspberry and mulberry fruit on the palate at first, almost immediately joined by iron and limestone underpinnings. At hour 2 biting tannins came to the fore but at hour 3 there were waves of savory red and black fruit, anise, briar, licorice and soy submerging and balancing the tannins. Plenty of acidity. Long, muscular finish of iron and brooding dark fruit. Grip in spades. This wine is fascinating now but wait at least 5 years if you can.
