Saturday, May 28, 2011 - We decanted the wine for about one hour. It was dark purple in colour and offered intense red and black currant aromas, spices, espresso, and roasted coffee beans, and even some floral aspects on the nose. On the palate the wine started with intense red and black currant and berry flavours, followed by a spicy mid-palate, then red and black currant and spices again, paired with vanilla, mocha and some liquorice on the medium to long finish. The wine felt smooth, sweet and creamy, with phenomenal balance. A hedonistic wine, very well made and certainly great if you like this style. Would I spend EUR 60.- to EUR 100,- for that wine again? Honestly? I would probably prefer to go for a Pauillac instead...
