Monday, June 28, 2010 - Had to give this one a try after the beautiful performance of the Family Farm the night before. This opens pretty similarly with a serious spine that's showing the obvious signature of the stems, but unlike the Family Farm it's showing some muscle from tannin, too. In addition to the structural differences there's a different kind of fruit profile. The Family Farm was a more basic red - cherry or strawberry or whatever - while the fruit spectrum here includes some more tangy flavors, more juicy and tart but also a little deeper in complexion. There's a stoniness too especially on the back end. While it's showing more complexity than the Family Farm and is certainly behaving like the longer ager of the two, I think I actually prefer the Family Farm at this moment for its finesse.
