2007 Rhys Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard

Community Tasting Note

Saturday, October 23, 2010 - With four bottles in the cellar, I just had to pop one to try it out. Very primary, with a mix of red and (mostly) dark fruit; also kept getting a pomegranate(?) note. Structured and serious, this wine barely budged, despite almost two hours in the decanter. Tannins are fine but evident, and the presumed stem inclusion shows. Definitely a sense that there is loads underneath the surface, just waiting to develop. Needs at least a couple of years. Impressive.
