2007 Rhys Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard

Community Tasting Note

94 Points

Friday, August 24, 2012 - Darker than most CA and OR pinots. Cherry and smoke on the nose. Gains additional aromatics after second which is now much more pleasant. On the palate tart cherry and pomegranate with some oak and yes some green peppers. Palate intensifies after the second hour and thus the 94 (pop and pour get a 90+). Wait at least two more years as this will become better balanced and less harsh. Not your fruity CA pinot (Kosta Browne type)….although it does offer some minerality/stoneness which I anticipate will develop w/ more time in the bottle. Outstanding potential.
