Tuesday, March 10, 2015 - Bordeaux & San Sebastian Trip; 3/6/2015-3/13/2015: Nose: blackberry, cherry pit and some oak/spice notes. Good dark nose compared to the Fife de Lagrange beside it. Palate: sweet red fruit on entry that is backed up by soil, tobacco and leather. Bit of glycerin here as well Finish: bit of tart black fruit and earth. Still see cherry and baking spice here as well.
Lagrange is the largest producer in St Julien of the classified growths. When touring the couvier it was impressive that they generate such high quality. Optical sorting wad recently added here, and malolactic fermentation occurs in tank rather than barrel.
