Friday, February 16, 2007 - Meeting the new neighbors (and serving Clos des Papes, Usseglio Mon Aieul, Fonseca and others): Medium ruby with a sligth lightening at the rim. An awesome nose only lacking a little in intensity displays garrigue, animal, tapenade, smoke, and kirsch. On the palate this is nicely balanced with a deep flavor of dark fruit and mineral and a bit of acidity to keep things lively. Still fairly tannic, but drinking great now. This is the best bottle of Coudoulet de Beaucastel that I have ever had (and I have been buying this since the 1995 vintage).
