Tuesday, April 12, 2011 - The nose is really dominated by vanillin and smokey oak, some mocha and fig as well but not much else. This is a huge, low acid wine that was obviously subjected to torturous modern winemaking tricks. Very one dimensional and somewhat closed right now. This isn't showing much, but the lack of acidity and very resolved tannins makes me wonder if this will ever blossom or just become flabby and uninteresting over time. This was tasted against Palmer 05' and it was beat handily. I agree with the previous taster about mistaking this for possibly a $30 cab.
