2008 Château Chasse-Spleen

Thursday, October 3, 2013 - This was a half bottle bought recently at Carrefour's FAV for 10€. Not very aromatic, but immediately charming and fruity, surprisingly forward. Redcurrants and cranberry dominate, with a touch of plum. As the back label states rather honestly, 08 turned out much better than expected, which still of course means that it's not a top vintage. This is a medium bodied, easy going wine that will give great pleasure over the next two or three years, but no more. The front of the palate is well served by the charming fruit, but there is neither grip nor body, nor is there much of a finish. Good fun and a good QPR but not a great example of CS.
