2008 Château Haut-Bergey

Community Tasting Note

90 Points

Tuesday, June 7, 2011 - Deep purple. Light but complex nose of black fruit, earth, and tobacco. Flavor follows nose along with balanced acidity, surprisingly tame (for its youth) but adequate tannins, and "dark" notes (smoke, cacao) on a medium finish. You won't need to wait for this to balance out as it fits together now, although age might put some shoulders on what I found to be a relatively light frame. Better than the 2005, my only other comparison for this label.
