2008 Château Haut-Bergey

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Saturday, February 16, 2013 - 1 hour decant. Charcoal, spices and red fruit on the nose; medium bodied with good acidity yet still with some tannins left. I would hold this for +2 years.

2/19/2013 11:45:00 PM - I will try to hold 5+ years. I don't usually drink classified growths before 10 years after vintage, but H-Bergey can be more accessible a bit earlier, though the will stay at prime drinking for quite some time without degenerating. I have had a few Bourgeois Superiore and Bdx Bourgeois after just 5 years and seen some good drinking opportunities. I think '08 will show that its just as god, even while being different that vintages of '09 and '10. Time will tell the story. I'm glad I went heavy in '08 and '09. I will forge most of the '10 vintage for classified growths.
