Monday, December 26, 2011 - Dark purple color with ruby at the rim. There is no way this looks like a 15 year old wine. I am really impressed by the nose - black cherry, plum, menthol, tobacco, and herbs. The palate is packed with pure black cherry and plum while menthol creeps in and leafy tobacco and herbs round out the profile. Structurally, this has refreshing acidity and rounded tannins that give this full-bodied wine power without being overblown. The finish is long and polished. Overall, this is why I love Dick Arrowood's wines - polished and powerful without being heavy-handed, and they improve substantially with age.
