Monday, September 28, 2015 - Cork looked perfect, 15% alc. Decanted for 6 hours. An intense Heathcote Shiraz with 5% Cabernet Franc. Loads of earthy, smoky black fruit with spices and a subtle oak influence. Some minerally action on the palate which was really concentrated yet surprisingly refined, with good acidity giving focus and drive across the palate. While not porty or overripe, the alcohol was noticable and a little higher than I would have liked. It's a very solid wine though that has entered its drinking window (with plenty of air) and should hold well for 10+ years.
