Sunday, December 27, 2015 - Cork in perfect condition. No "seep" up the sides at all. Base was black as ink. Wine color was lighter than that, but still a very dark ruby red. Very, very slight bricking around the edges. Initial nose of vanilla, cocoa and chocolate. Straight out of the bottle, the first glass was definitely more open than prior bottle 3 years ago. Palate still lots of tannin, but with very nice structure and mouthfeel. A bit more forward palate than expected. Mouthcoating with a long palate. 2nd glass really started to show lots of dark berry fruit, like a fruit cobbler with carmalized sugar on top. Blueberry, blackberry, coffee on the nose and palate.
