Tuesday, January 8, 2013 - 14.2% alcohol. Consumed over the course of three hours, with the wine really singing after about 30 minutes of air. Lovely nose of blackberry, black pepper, chocolate/oak, and bacon fat notes along with that telltale Rosella's citrus/grapefruit impression providing a nice lifted counterpoint to the aforementioned deeper pitched aromatic components. In the mouth, to the fuller side of medium bodied with grapefruit like acidity and a profile of blackberry, peppery spice, and meat. Enveloping, gripping, lingering finish with some fine grained tannins apparent. Certainly no shame in drinking this now, although seems to have the fruit, concentration, underlying structure, and overall integration/balance for additional aging. My favorite syrah in the Novy portfolio; Highly recommended.
