Sunday, January 6, 2013 - Color: inky purple/ruby -> dark ruby rim. Bouquet of iodine, crushed rock, cassis, graphite. Palate presented minerals and cassis and was quite medicinal (in a good way). Large scaled wine but not overripe or jammy. The bordeaux elements really take over in this wine. I'm usually not a fan of Cab/Syrah combos (Domaine Trevallon being an exception), but this really works. Tannins are noticeable still but soft and fine. Wonderful finish and excellent acidity makes the wine almost seem juicy. Quite attractive; brooding, masculine . . . a thinking man's (or woman's) wine.
