Sunday, May 31, 2015 - Opened and decanted 3+ hours ahead of a seared filet dinner feast. Dark, deep, cloudy crimson color. Nose brings bright red raspberries, fresh cut spring flowers, sweet tobacco, espresso, leather, and wet sod. The palate is jagged, full, saturated, and silky, bringing plump blackberries, blueberries, chocolate cherries, mocha, and candied strawberries. The finish is hard and hot - the only major detriment to this wine - with thick acid, alcohol, and tannins. Typical to the vintage in Napa, I'm not so sure the finish will improve much. Drink now - 2025.
