Saturday, January 30, 2016 - From Magnum for Claudia magnum dinner: Aromas of dark earth, graphite, animal, underbrush, and ripe blackberries. On the palate, nice dark meaty flavors and wonderful depth. Awesome dark berry fruits dominate, but lots of wild spices and layers of flavors. So much to contemplate here. Wonderful interplay of forest floor wet soil character with ripe sweet fruits. Massive, yet well balanced. Was decanted for 4 hours and needed every minute. Paired amazingly well with the duck and blackberry sauce dish. Blew the 1978 Beaucastel off the table and that was a nice wine, although showing age.
