Tuesday, February 3, 2015 - Wide range of input. James Suckling 100, Parker 94, and Tanzer 93. Decided to pull a bottle out of cellar and give it a try. New world fans, this is intriguing but not what you might hope for. Old world wine drinkers: stick around for a minute.

Very slow to release aromatics. At hour # 4 in decanter, the magic starts. A profound nose of berries, molasses, roast meat and a green hint of something, may be asparagus? Big and bold, robust body, with noticeable but fine grainy tannins. Plum, black tea, dark fruit, macerated berries. High acid - parotid gland squeezer! Finish is long...very long.

I am not sure how this will develop in the near future, but it has a long life ahead of it. Suckling scored it 100 which I believe based on potential. Bob Parker did not get this one right. Holding on to the only remaining bottle to try again 2020. I wish I had more.
