91 Points

Monday, June 4, 2007 - R2 brought this wine to dinner on Saturday with our wives to celebrate Mrs. R2's birthday. Our food was brought out rather quickly and so we did not end up opening this at the restaurant and instead took it back to our house. This is labelled as "Ste. Michelle Vineyards" and does not have the word "Chateau" on the label. This had a good amount of crustiness under the foil and a wet cork as R2 mentioned. Solid red color (slightly faded) with a little bricking. I noticed the tea aromas that R2 mentions. A dry texture with supple tannins. A soft wine with a simple elegance that 33 years has bestowed upon it. Notes of tar, earthy red berries and some woodiness. A fine wine which I liked a little better than Otis and R2. 91 points.
