Sunday, August 9, 2015 - #DCInvasion (Chicago, IL): From magnum. Compared to the 2000, which I thought was much more approachable, this wine showed much more charcuterie and bacon on the nose and palate. There's a slight feral quality to it as well, as well as exuberant black fruit that needs more time to come out and play. Despite the density and richness, there's no sense at all that this wine is heavy, and that's probably thanks to an undercurrent of acidity. I would strongly suggest negating the rule of 15 here and letting these sleep for a few more years.
