Sunday, September 7, 2014 - Much the same as the bottle opened a year ago, this continues to impress. It does need opening in the morning or decanting if you forget, to give plenty of time for aeration. Once fully unwound, the bouquet is a beguiling mix of blackcurrant, raspberry liqueur and spices, with a slight earthiness and hints of flowers. In the mouth, it's big, full bodied, with blackcurrant, leading into dark cherry, then blackberry and a touch of leather, before finishing on a dusty, elegant note of typical Margaux finesse. It still needs a few more years to shed the tannins which continue to give it a slight astringency, but it could then turn into an outstanding wine.
