Saturday, January 5, 2013 - Holy oak bomb. I don't understand where this has gone, initially I loved this wine but this bottle was just oak juice and a some dark fruit just barely coming through. The palate was very silky which was nice but I couldn't even finish the bottle, only so much oak I can take.

1/5/2013 12:11:00 PM - This is very strange as I opened one on New Years Eve. I did decant for about 4-5 hours and there was very little oak that wasn't integrated into milk chocolate. I do expect these to start shutting down as many of the better '07s have. Hopefully it should only sleep for 2-3 years at most. I had a similar experience with an '06 Bordeaux last year, where it was a solid wall of oak and tannin with no fruit. Time in the decanter didn't help at all, even after trying it every day for a week. A total waste of a nice bottle.
