Tuesday, July 31, 2007 - For a wine of this age from CA, I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't dead. That said, there was a definite 'figgyness', an element of really ripe fruit or high pH. This pruney/fig note continued to blossom in the glass over the next 2o to 30 minutes. Beneath these older fruit notes were interesting elements of true cabernet sauvignon: still some tannin, good acid balance and length. I wouldn't wait on this one any longer.
