1976 Château Montrose

Community Tasting Note

92 Points

Tuesday, September 20, 2011 - Ruby with a brief tawny rim. Nose of tar, cassis, black cherry and lots of dry flowers. Thoroughly dry palate with smooth tannins, but no astringency whatsoever, perfectly ripe black and blue fruits; in this wine the elegance far outpunches the the power. The finish is somewhat modest, but perfectly in keeping with the previous. Still very fresh to my taste, but perhaps fading, a beautiful wine but less substantial than I expected.
