Friday, May 25, 2012 - Upon first opening the bottle at Club Car in Mamo, I thought the wine might be a bit old. That thought blew away on the 2nd sip. The wine shows a beautiful deep ruby red color. Hints of cigar box and tar on the nose. The tannins, though still slightly noticeable, were extremely smooth and well integrated into the wine. The fruit just explodes in the mouth, lots of red AND black fruit in my opinion. I loved the wine, though was more brooding and darker than I had expected--not your typical cherry fruit bomb that I typically expect from California pinots (perhaps because SQN gets its fruit for this wine from Shea Vineyard in Oregon). Great wine!
