Wednesday, June 25, 2014 - Jason's Actual Birthday (La Barca): Pop and poured. Just a bit of air and this was all ready for business.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, garnet colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of dusty earth, ferrous minerality, and sour red cherries. With more air, developed scents of roses. Developed.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ alcohol, smooth melt in your mouth medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Pronounced flavor intensity, with flavours of dusty earth, ferrous minerality, sour red cherries, tomato puree, licorice. More silk than leather, this was almost Burgandian-like. Sweeter and sweeter with more air. Paired extremely well with Florentine steak. Long lingering and satisfying finish.
Outstanding quality. One of the best Brunello I have had so far. Drink now, and will hold well for another 3 years at least.
