Wednesday, November 25, 2015 - Evidently modern leaning. I'm not sure I could identify this as tuscan, but there's no denying it is complex and interesting. 100% Cab Franc from coastal Tuscany (Bolgheri). It pours inky dark, opaque black/purple. The nose features noted new, integrating, high quality oak: toasted hazelnut, sawdust, charcoal, followed by deep rich fruit dark plums, blackberry liquor, cassis, and some other nice secondaries poke through via forest undergrowth. The palate has a fair bit of tannin and a moderate finish. Honestly, this is a little large scaled for me, but nonetheless an interesting wine.
