Sunday, March 17, 2013 - From 375 ml. Crimson brown color. Nose starts very sweet, dominated by oak and vanilla. With swirling a cedar aroma emerges, followed by cocoa, Penzey's "Tuscan Sunset" spice blend (appropriately), cured sausage, wet earth and star anise. The palate is mostly tart cherry, with sturdy but well-proportioned tannins. I liked this a bit less well than prior bottles, but it's still a delightful wine with quite a few years ahead of it.
