Sunday, August 21, 2011 - Notes from day 2. On Day 1 I decanted this for about 2 hours. It was huge...over the top, lots of oak and noticeable alcohol. It was still fairly nice, but certainly NOT where I'd expect this wine to be right now. Poured back in the bottle and recapped for the next night.

Day 2, I reopened and poured a glass after dinner, to discover that the wine had integrated overnight and turned into a beautiful creation. Still a bit heavy on the oak, but everything else seems to be in place, although now some chalky tannins are showing themselves. Berry liqueur, violets, minerals, and quite a bit of vanilla from the oak. Ends with some fairly dusty tannins, which are actually rather nice. This can go a bit, so I'd hold off for now, and enjoy this starting in 2012.
