Friday, March 22, 2013 - Decanted with Soiree pourer. Dense ruby color fully coating the glass. Nicely aromatic with aromas of leather, tobacco, violets and black cherry. Creamy cassis and currant notes on the front palate and weighty throughout. Overpowering oak beginning on the mid-palate through the finish- cedar and espresso drowning out the fruit and dulling the edges. Big tannins. Heat and spice on the finish. Needs time for the oak to integrate, hopefully the fruit and profile brightens.
