89 Points

Saturday, March 6, 2010 - Respi-aerate to decanter and serve. Dark cherry red with lots of black tones, inky and opaque, and an unusually full body for a CdR. Thick nose of dark plums, figs, cherries, garrigue, and a nice hint of barnyard. No petrol aroma as noted by others. On the palate a dense juice of black fruits, licorice, twinges of bittersweet chocolate. Medium acid, big firm structure of tannins, extended dry finish of dark fruit, charcoal, herbs. Big wine for a CdR. Quite enjoyable, but between the primary fruit flavors and firm tannins, it seems like it will be better in a year. Not as big or complex as the Bila-Haut Occultum, but then that's about 7 bucks more. Smartly priced and a very good wine (89+).
