Tuesday, May 5, 2015 - The nose is beautifully ripe; the medium weight body is concentrated with lovely round velvety textures, silky and seamless. What this wine does not have, when compared to other Epeneaux, are those focussed, minerally complex layers combined with an elegant high-toned acidity that make it such a powerful elegant and long-lived wine. Not typical, but none the worse for that; in fact utterly delicious! The tannins are very smooth and barely noticeable. Unlike other Epeneaux, which are barely ready at 10 years of age, this one is raring to go. Estimated maturity: 2013-2020.
