Friday, April 15, 2011 - {GVHwtb} Opened less than an hour earlier, no decant. Color not noted. Bouquet is tight, showing most obviously barnyard, as well as lavender, garrigue, kirsch, and pepper. On the palate, flavors of animal, lavender, garrigue, red and black currants, and black pepper. Excellent depth of fruit and savory characteristics extending into quite a long finish. Medium-plus acid and full, very drying tannins. Distinctive characteristics remind me of how much I love Pegau, especially after 7 to 10 years of age (eg., the 2000 is drinking so well right now!) depending on the vintage. Low 90's range but no score given as this was tasted among 40 other wines and not given proper air or attention.
