Monday, April 25, 2011 - Expressive nose with a floral character, showing dried red fruits, iron, blood, sandlewood and kirsch. Intense palate with raspberry, plums and spice. Soft mouthfeel with fine tannins and bright acidity, turns slightly bitter with a cherry pit character with >2hrs of air. Does lack the concentration of Pegau in the better years, but the flavor profile and complexity are there. Lengthy finish with a saline quality and adding a hint of mocha/tar. Great wine. This should peak in the next 5 years and drink for 10. A great Pegau to have around waiting on the more concentrated/intense wines to open up.
