90 Points

Wednesday, May 20, 2015 - PnP last night. TN from today.
Med ruby at the core, fading to a med tawny rim.
Nose is med+ intensity with a lot of spiciness, with raisined plums, wet dirt, and a citrus rind in the upper register.
The palate shows a slight frizzante, that seems to have improved since yesterday. Full bodied wine, 14% abv, with med+ intensity, rustic and edgy tannins that are right at home with a plate of food. There is nice med acidity, with ripe blue and red fruit, black pepper, tar, and a rocky minerality. The finish is med length and repeats the flavors from the palate. The rustic tannins persist for 30 secs or so. Nice astringency.
Very tasty Coudoulet, drinking beautifully now, and will continue to drink well through 2020+, but I'll enjoy mine within a year or 2. Very good.
