Thursday, October 14, 2010 - Wowza, quite an interesting nose. Smokey, meaty, bloody, and savory. I would think Northern Rhône whether through strong oak or strong Syrah influence. This is a bloody, savory, Umami-laden wine on the nose, but then it shows surprisingly delicate flavors on the palate. There is a lot to admire here, although it is also a touch lean and hollow, whether due to being dried out (oak?) or just not opened up yet. The good news is that I have another half bottle to revisit tomorrow night to see for sure.
