Monday, March 25, 2013 - This was a subtle offering compared to most vintages. Nose was quite expressive with cherry, raspberry, and herbs de Provence. Palate had a rather soft structure, but enough acidity for freshness, with pure red fruits--raspberry and cherry liquor, and some fine sandy tannins in the background. Faintest hint of heat on the back end, with repeating red fruit notes, touch of stone, and faintest hint of sandalwood. Quite elegant, balanced, and rather seamless, but monolithic and lacking real complexity. Not sure how much this will really gain with time as the structure is already soft and I think it's drinking near it's prime now (could be wrong though). I'd drink this while waiting on '09/'10. Solid, but a bit of an underperformer for the price. (Pegau from a less bretty bottle is stronger this vintage and a recent '06 Janasse VV was well above) 91-92
