2009 Clos des Jacobins

Community Tasting Note

92 Points

Wednesday, March 6, 2013 - Blend of 80% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. Good nose. Notes of blackberry, cassis with hints of oak at finish. Chalky texture. Concentrated and thick wine, dry mid-palate with noticeable but not harsh tannins through out. Very different form other 2009 Red Bordeaux. Not ready yet and is built to age. 14.5% alcohol with slight heat at the end. Relatively low acidity and good length. Tannins yet to soften even on 2nd day, this is probably the most tannic 2009 Bordeaux I have tasted so far. Other than that, other components are fine. So would not surprise me to show up much better 10 years down the road. 91-94 pts.
